So it's time for a
website...
and you want the
benefits of being on the
web:
-
Increase
your company
exposure

Build your
brand
-
Make your
services
known
-
Create
product
awareness
-
Sell
products or
services
online
-
Enhance
customer

That all sounds great --
but now what?
To get started, be sure to
address a few questions:
-
What are the
goals for
this
website?
-
How do I
choose a web
address?
-
What
structure is
best for me?
-
How can I
keep the
navigation
simple?
-
How do I
decide on
colors and
layout?
-
Will anyone
find it on
the
internet?
-
What do I
say to
capture a
visitor's
attention?
-
How do I
choose a
hosting
company?
-
What happens
when I need
to update
the content?
Whether you build the site
yourself or manage the

use!
You've probably seen many
books claiming to give you
the tools and resources you
need to build a website, and
you may even have purchased
some of them yourself.
But what you probably found
was either too technical to
understand or something that
was not even written by web
designers. Many guidebooks
are simply compiled by
someone who just read a few
books themselves and decided
they would throw some
information together in
hopes of making a few bucks.
Online in 10 Steps
was written by award
winning web designer Angela
Nielsen, President of
One Lily, a
leading provider of web
design and development
located in southern
California. With years of
experience building winning
websites for professional
service firms and e-commerce
companies, Angela knows
what it takes to build a
successful website.
Now, for the first time
ever she has provided that
information to you, in
the form of her newest
ebook.
Guidelines you can
easily understand and
apply!
When Angela decided to
tackle this new book, she
wanted to make sure it was
written in a way that anyone
with basic computer and
internet experience would be
able to understand it, and
apply the information they
learned immediately. And she
accomplished her mission...
this book is an easy read
for anyone of any skill
level.
If you don't already have a
website, or if the one you
have is not successful, then
there is no time to
waste! Available online
for immediate download,
Online in 10 Steps
is available as a PDF
document for online viewing,
and is also printable so
that you can review it

allows.

Web
Myths
You
are
now
armed
with
enough
information
to
make
decisions
about
your
company
website.
So
that
you
are
not
accused
of
having
“just
enough
information
to
be
dangerous”,
we
would
like
to
dispel
a
few
myths
about
making
a
website
successful
Myth
#1:
“I
don’t
need
a
website.”
A
lot
of
companies
feel
they
are
too
small
for
the
internet,
or
they
are
too
localized
to
benefit
from
the
internet.
The
fact
is,
the
internet
evens
the
playing
field
between
you
and
your
competitors.
Good
design
and
functionality
does
not
require
mammoth
size
–
and
you
don’t
need
to
capture
the
entire
market,
just
increase
your
share.
Every
day
you
wait
allows
your
competition
to
get
the
jump
on
you.
There
are
many
good
reasons
to
be
online,
but
here
are
a
few…
- Increased Credibility. Potential customers now expect to see a website. If they don’t, they assume that your company isn’t doing well enough to be on the internet, or that you don’t maintain modern business practices. Think of it as “reputation insurance”.
- More Opportunities. A website opens your business to markets around the world. If you aren’t online, you are surely losing potential business.
- Internet Growth Demands It. Don’t assume that your customers don’t go online, or won’t look for your website – they are and they will. Yes, you can try to “catch up later”, but is that any way to do business? Every day you postpone going online your competition is thankful – and reaping the benefits.
- Improve Customer Service. Regardless of your industry, you will benefit from having a website, even if it’s only to improve customer service. Save time by giving the customer more options to contact you, look up your phone number, address, or driving directions, and research your products and services.
Myth
#2:
If
you
build
it
they
will
come.
This
is
simply
not
true!
When
I
first
started
designing
websites
several
clients
called
us
just
days
after
their
site
was
launched,
wanting
to
know
why
they
weren’t
rich
yet.
Seriously!
Too
many
people
believe
that
having
a
website
will
make
people
magically
appear
out
of
thin
air
and
start
buying
their
product
or
service.
This
simply
doesn’t
happen.
Just
like
with
a
brick
and
mortar
location,
you
must
build
traffic.
Yes,
the
search
engines
will
start
bringing
traffic
to
your
website,
but
this
takes
time,
sometimes
3-6
months
or
more.
Can
you
afford
to
wait
that
long?
After
you
launch
your
website,
there
are
a
few
simple
steps
to
start
building
traffic…
- Tell people you’re on the internet! Your website will compliment, not completely replace, traditional advertising. Continue to employ your existing advertising, as well as start some internet promotion, such as pay per click advertising. You have to let the world know you exist, and the only way to do this is to tell them – search engines are one way to do this.
- Tell people where you are on the Internet! Start putting your web address on EVERYTHING! Have your business cards reprinted with your domain name displayed on them, reprint letterhead and envelopes if you use them. Update any brochures, flyers or any other marketing material you’re using. You can also get your domain listed online in directories, and on other websites via a link exchange.
Myth
#3:
Anyone
can
build
a
winning
website.

why

we

the
surprise?
